Zekeriyaköy Villa
A 620 m² detached villa embraced by forest. A family home where the interior merges with the garden and natural materials lead.

In the calm, forest-wrapped fabric of Zekeriyaköy, this 620 m² villa, designed for a family of three children, was built on the idea of thinning the boundary between interior and nature as much as possible. We joined the project at the shell stage, which allowed us to align mechanical, lighting and spatial decisions with the design language from the very start.
The ground floor was designed as the family's shared living realm. Living, dining and kitchen were composed as a single fluid volume with broad glazed surfaces opening to the garden. In summer, fully retractable sliding panels dissolve the difference between interior and terrace, carrying life into the garden. The natural stone of the floor continues uninterrupted inside and out, reinforcing this unity.
In the choice of materials we took the palette of nature as our reference. Light-toned natural stone, brushed oak, lime plaster and matt black metal details form a ground in harmony with the green of the forest and the changing colours of the seasons. No surface puts itself forward; together they build a calm, balanced whole.
The upper floors were given over to private spaces. The primary suite was designed as an independent retreat with a generous dressing room, a bathroom facing the view and a small sitting corner. The children's rooms were treated with a flexible composition that can change as they grow; fixed cabinetry and study areas were planned to adapt to different needs over the years.
The lower floor of the villa holds spaces for the family's social life: a cinema room, a wine cellar and a guest-hosting area opening to the garden. On this floor we used darker tones and textured surfaces to create a warm, intimate feeling distinct from the bright atmosphere of the upper floors.
The lighting design offers a different scenario on every floor of the villa. The wide openings that maximise daylight by day give way in the evening to warm, layered artificial light. The garden lighting was designed to frame the forest like a painting when seen from inside.
The villa that emerged at the end of a seventeen-month design and build chose to be livable rather than showy. The dressing-room cabinetry in the primary suite, the kitchen island and the bespoke seating units in the cinema room were made in our own workshop. Zekeriyaköy Villa is a quiet example of how a relationship with nature can enrich an interior.
